Lemon Grass is a beautiful herb. I like to use it as an ornamental edible in plantings but it also does very well in containers. Its best to buy plants of a larger size because of the long season it requires. Plant Lemon Grass in full sun after night time temperatures are steadily above 10°C. These plants like to be kept relatively moist and enjoy a high nitrogen fertilizer but in my experience a well tended garden will sustain them comfortable throughout the long growing season. The tufts can get fairly large and yield a full winters supply of beautifully aromatic stalk from just one plant for all but the most avid users of this herb. Harvest stalks as they reach a diameter of roughly ½ an inch. After you abundant harvest stalks can be stored in the freezer for use all winter long.
